What’s The Most Important Skill For Online Entrepreneurs?

There are a bunch of skills that most internet marketers think they need to know:

  • Writing/content creation
  • Setting up websites
  • Graphics design
  • Various technical tasks
  • etc.

Copyblogger posted an article this morning called The One Skill That Makes An Online Entrepreneur Unstoppable that boils it all down to the single most important skill:

What entrepreneurs need most isn’t knowledge. What they need is the ability to evolve.

This is certainly true in our industry.

Things are changing all the time and if you don’t evolve with them, you’re going to find that your results will start to deteriorate over time.

Sure, some strategies will work for years but the actual mechanics of what you’re doing will most likely change.

The basic strategies for marketing on Facebook aren’t that much different than they were for MySpace. But if you’re still targeting MySpace exclusively, you’re probably not getting much in the way of results.

Knowledge can be acquired – whether you learn it for yourself or hire someone who knows how to do it.

But the ability to evolve isn’t something you can pick up by watching a couple of YouTube videos or posting a job on Elance.

You need to develop that ability for yourself.
